ICADTS MEETINGS

Forty-seven years ago, the International Committee on Alcohol and Traffic, forerunner of ICADTS, was established at the first international conference in Stockholm. One hundred forty six participants from nineteen countries met for four days to discuss the role of alcohol in traffic safety. That was the beginning. Since then, ten additional conferences have been held, generally at three-year intervals.

Proceedings of all of the major conferences, satellite conferences, regional meetings and jointly-sponsored workshops have been published. This amounts to thousands of pages of material which provide a history of the development of research over the last four decades in alcohol, drugs, and traffic safety.
